Tifton Georgia has a small population of teenagers and young adults who practice the sport of skateboarding. We use to have a Skate park but unfortunately the park was poorly managed and dismantled after its first year on Tifton's YMCA's campus. The campaign to get a skatepark took three years of work and costed little to nothing to construct.
Many southerners believe that Slavery was not as harsh as some would assume it to have been and that many African Americans fought willingly for the south. Those ideas stem from a regional's population justifications for supporting the legacy of the confederacy and those who participated in the efforts to subdue "Northern Aggression." It's complete bullshit because what history does tell us is that there were entire regiments of African Americans who fought against the succeeding south. They were often called color regiments and even though they faced more atrocious and violent repercussions if taken as prisoners of war, they chose to fight for freedom and a chance at living like first class citizens in the towns they help built nationwide. These were Slaves that would soon be set freeThis was a pic courtesy of the Atlanta History Center that shows swine farmer Robert smith and his family and their property.
During my time at the Atlanta Center of History i learned some grim knowledge of the city's past. There had been a race riot in the early 1900s that completely divided the city into all out chaos with a white versus black brawl ending in bloodshed on both sides. This was the after the civil war and after emancipation yet hearsay is all the validation hundreds of whites citizens of Atlanta needed in order to kill over hundreds of Black male citizens. This was a time not too long ago.
Where did you get that itinerary i asked hannah and she said idk i just found it in this chair. I was like oh cool and then looked around all of a sudden noticing that she had been sitting in a barber's chair the whole time. My 4000 level history course entitled: Intro to public history has given me the privilege of visiting several Georgia Museums and archival centers. The Atlanta center for history was an experience that was both unexpected and exactly what i anticipated.
